Working togetherDo me a favour?

When can you use the termĀ ‘do me a favour’?

When talking to someone formally – like at work? or just personally?

What would be the best way to use it? Can you provide any examples?

You have to be careful with this phrase as it is used in very different ways. The positive way is to ask for help:
“I asked my neighbour, ‘Can you do me a favour? I am expecting the postman today but I have to go out. Will you accept the parcel for me?'”
The negative way, where it means “no” as a response to what is considered an unreasonable request, is:
“You: Will you give my six children a lift to the park?
Me: Do me a favour!”
