What’s the difference between the conjunctions quand and lorsque?

We know that both mean ‘when’ so how do you use them?

Hi, (sorry for my english) you’re right that both each other mean when. You can use quand and lorsque when you tell something with a consequence : like when I was young, I ate a lot (for example) : Quand j’étais petit, je mangeais beaucoup/Lorsque j’étais petit, je mangeais beaucoup => Same sentence. He comes to see me when I was not here : Il est venu me voir quand je n’étais pas/Il est venu me voir lorsque je n’étais pas là=> Same sentence. When I come back, I’d love to see you : Quand je rentrerai, j’aimerais te voir/Lorsque je rentrerai, j’aimerais te voir => Same sentence. But “quand” it’s also use when you ask something about the time like When do you want to leave ? : Quand est ce que tu veux partir? or When do you want to eat ? Quand est ce que tu veux manger?

Sorry it’s : He comes to see me when I’m not here : the good translation it’s more in present time : “Il viens me voir quand je ne suis pas là” and no Il est venu, quand je n’étais pas là past time) => He came to see me when I was not here
